Which One Is Acting?

So, I ask you, which one of my children is acting in this picture? Not a single one....except maybe Spencer who wanted desperately to be walking along the railing.

Tim Tam Slam

The Lewis family have blessed our lives once again...with the "Tim Tam Slam." Their unconditional love and friendship aren't all that bad either, but back to "The Slam."

First, you fill a bowl with hot chocolate. Next, you bite off both ends of a chocolate covered (and filled-ummmm, chocolate) wafer cookie. On the count of three, and with the shouts of "GO" from hundreds of munchkin voices (or just one Emma voice-they are the same) you suck hot chocolate through the wafer cookie like a straw. As soon as the hot chocolate reaches your mouth you must suck up the cookie before it dissolves...without using your hands. It is a delightful, chocolatey, messy crazy fun family game. Thanks Lewises...we look forward to playing it with you when you return from the land of camels and sand!!

Soccer Season 2008

This year Michael and Jasen played on the same team...the San Onofre United!! Ben was their coach and they had a fabulous season!! They will tell you that they came in second in the league but it was closer to 5th. Michael scored in nearly every game and Jasen stopped countless opposing goals as one of the team goalies.
I caught this picture by shear luck. Michael got kicked in the knee and was so swollen and sore for about a week that I thought his season was over. It is frightening to think of a 12 year old with a knee injury. He is just way to young. He seems fine now, though. He loves soccer with every fiber of his being so I am sure his passion helped with his healing!!
Jasen has a massive kick. It helps that he is already wearing a size 9 1/2 shoe. I remind Emma and Spencer to stay clear of his feet!!
Jasen finally gave in and agreed to wear sports glasses this season. He was really self conscious at first but now everyone is used to them. He definitely makes a better goalie now that he can see the ball coming!! I think they make him look extra tough!!
Emma played for the Water Dragons this season, her first. She has always been spunky but I have been very surprised at her aggresive play. She is always where the action is. She bumps and pushes an awful lot...there isn't much priss about her on the soccer field. She was her teams second highest scorer this year!!

The Daffodil Fields

Have you ever heard the story of the Daffodil Fields? A long time ago a woman began planting daffodil bulbs on the mountainsides around her home. Year after year she would plant more bulbs, one at a time. Now the entire mountainside is covered in the glory of spring as her bulbs have renewed and repopulated and bloom every year. There are over a million bulbs of daffodil in every variety you can imagine. The idea is that if one woman could change the entire mountainside landscape by planting one bulb at a time just think of the good that we can do in our lives, just one little step at a time!

Sea World-2008

When Nana came out to visit we took her to Sea World. We all had such a nice time. Nana got to pet dolphins (one of the things on her list "to do before I die.") Michael, Jasen, Ben, Spencer and Emma all sat in the "wet zone" for the dolphin show and the Shamu show was fabulous! Sea World is one of the treasures of San Diego that we appreciate the most!
