Apple Picking

On Monday we all had a day off of work and school!!  We drove an hour and a half into the Shenandoah Mountains.  The drive was so beautiful.  The trees were just beginning to change colors and the air was crisp and chilled.  The drive was long...much longer than expected...but the kids laughed, joked, sang and enjoyed each other the entire drive there.

The Marker-Miller Orchards and Farmers Market was delightful.  The Market smelled of freshly baked apple cider donuts, which we tried-of course, and hot apple cider.  We purchased 2 half-a-peck bags and walked out to the orchards.  The trees were loaded!  Spencer had his bag filled in two minutes flat with apples that were easily the size of The Hulk's fist.  The orchards offered a large variety of apples but the ones we picked were called Red Stayman...juicy, crisp and sweetly tart!  In my opinion close to perfect!

Despite the drastic drop in temperature and our lack of warm clothing we had a great time.  We enjoyed great treats, delicious apples and fun company!!  We can't wait until next fall so that we can go again!!
