The Princess and the Pee

Last night, in Ben’s absence, I let my littlest prince and my princess sleep with me. As luck, or maybe Murphy’s Law would have it, he did his four year old duty…he wet the bed. The Princess was distraught, waking up soaking in her brother’s pee. I was distraught, waking up soaking in her brother’s pee. He was distraught waking up…

I undressed them, showered them, redressed them and put them back to bed in their own beds…dry and content. All the while, in the recesses of my sleep fogged mind, I found comfort knowing that my mattress was protected from the “pee” by my plastic mattress cover.

About seven years ago I got wise…and got a plastic mattress cover to protect my mattress from wetness brought on by my little bed-wetters. It has proven to be worth it’s weight in gold.

However, as I stripped off my sheets and my fluffy mattress cover I discovered that there was a 2 inch slit in my plastic mattress cover…and my littlest prince peed directly on top of it. The mattress was soaked.

Tonight, as I put the plastic cover back onto the, now dry but still peed, mattress I appreciate the irony in the plastic mattress cover not only keeping the pee out but also keeping it in…I love happy endings!!!

CHALLENGER Brittish Soccer Camp

The kids just finished a crazy fun week of Brittish Soccer Camp!! Their coaches are all college athletes from the UK. The kids learned a lot and had so much fun. I would recommend this camp to anyone!! It was even pleasant to sit on the sidelines every day. I mean, who doesn't like a hot 20-something with a 007 accent!! Very pleasant indeed!!

Boys will be boys!!

As Good As Water

Spencer came out of the bathroom today so excited!!
"Mom, when I wear my cleats I can slide all around on the water on the bathroom floor."
My mommy radar immediately peaks at the word "water" and then again at the word "floor." Obviously the next thing out of my mouth:
"Why is there water on the floor in the bathroom?"
Spencer's response:
"Actually it's my pee but it is as good as water. It's slippery fun, Mom!!"

Tag-You Are It

For Jasen's birthday we had some buddies over for Air-softing! They had so much fun!! Nothing beats boys and their toys!!

Pretty in Pink

Last night Spencer found a pretty pink "Pooh Bear" night gown in his pajama drawer. Although he knew it belonged to his sister, he immediately took ownership and pulled it on...after all it was in his drawer. I didn't mind, Emma didn't mind and he was thrilled. He walked around twirling, swaying and enjoying his new found freedom from pants.

As the night wore on we all seemed to forget about his inseam freedom in his pretty pink night gown--until guests arrived.

Greg's family was moving and he needed a place to crash for the night.
Corey, an RM friend, decided to come to Cali for the week and we got to be his "home-base."
They both arrived about the same time, and when Spencer came down stairs to see what the commotion was about he was excited to see two of his favorite men...until realization hit. *It's important to note that no one said a word about his outfit. His little round face spoke volumes. His eyes rounded like saucers and his cheeks flared. His lips pursed and he physically shuddered. He had been caught in "girl clothes."

He ran to me and hid under a blanket for the rest of the evening...his only utterance..."Pooh is a BOY!!"

We all had a great laugh over his embarrassment that night after he had gone to bed. I was certain that the incident would be forgotten.

The next morning, while we all rushed around the kitchen, dishing up Captain Crunch and Cocoa Puffs, Spencer strode into the room. He wore camoflauged shorts, cowboy boots and a black hoodie, decorated with skulls. "Everyone," he announced at the top of his four year old voice, "this is a BOY shirt."

I need to be a little bit more careful about sorting his clothes from now on!!

SURF CAMP

Our Young Men's organization through church, which includes the boys' scout troop, ran a Surf Camp as a fund raiser for their up and coming super activity! Here's an idea of how it played out for our family!
Jasen had great success! He "got up" 4 or 5 times!!!

Emma rode the surf board on her tummy!! She loved it!

Spencer got dumped off his surfboard, and didn't want to try again...maybe next year!

Michael was an "instructor" but had a few good "wave opportunities." I think he is hooked!!

Ben also got to surf and caught a few great waves. I can imagine he and the older boys will be trying it a lot more! I am so thankful for all the wonderful guys who shared their talents, time and surf boards to give my family such a great morning!!
